The Case For XHTML - Coders Please Listen

The Case for XHTML is entirely how I’ve felt about this issue for a long time”

I don’t know how often I’ve been harangued for using XHTML and for specifically delivering - dare I say the words out loud - as text/html. And I know I’ve mentioned how its a stale old story on more than one occasion. But Faruk Ates’ article from 2004 - The Case for XHTML is entirely how I’ve felt about this issue for a long time.

XHTML is what is getting companies to become aware of Web Standards. Not HTML.

I think the concluding paragraph needs to be reiterated at this point.

So to conclude, sending XHTML as text/html causes no damage or harm anywhere today, as long as your XHTML does validate. And if you want Web Standards to become more and more wide-spread, stick to using XHTML and validate your pages.

I agree with all of these points wholeheartedly and thought the end of the year was a good time to bring it back out for some air. Thanks Faruk for a time there I was starting to feel like I was going insane. Brilliant stuff. If anyone hasn’t read it then there’s no better time.
